Cut cycle times and boost production

Tie-rod heavy-duty ISO metric cylinders can easily meet your application requirements and ISO industry standards. These EPM series and EPTV series cylinders are constructed with durable grey iron bearings to make them run stronger and longer.

  • Productivity – Cut cycle times and boost production
  • Durability – Made to last
  • Dependability – Reliable and safe operation

Accelerate cycle times and increase production

Maximize acceleration with our patented floating ring bumper seal or backup ball check design. Optimized deceleration with a fully adjustable cushioning system.

Safe, dependable performance

Captive screws prevent accidental removal while still allowing for easy adjustment. Our system – the connection between the stem and the wiper – ensures exceptional performance and durability. A full range of ports offers the widest range of piping flexibility.

Minimize wear and extend seal life

Special hardbands eliminate metal-to-metal contact, extending cylinder life and increasing load capacity. The case-hardened chrome-plated piston rod ensures maximum durability and seal life, reducing downtime. Rod seal maintenance is performed without disassembling the cylinder.

Tie rod hydraulic cylinder

Tie Rod Cylinders Use high-strength threaded steel rods to secure both end caps to the cylinder barrel. This method of construction is most commonly found in industrial plant applications. Small bore cylinders typically have four tie rods, while larger bore cylinders may require as many as 16 or 20 tie rods to hold the end caps under the enormous forces generated. The National Fluid Power Association (NFPA) has standardized the dimensions of hydraulic tie rod cylinders. This enables cylinders from different manufacturers to be interchanged within the same mount. Tie-rod cylinders can be completely disassembled for servicing and servicing.

Welded body hydraulic cylinder

Welded cylinders have a number of advantages over tie rod cylinders: Welded cylinders have a narrower body, and generally shorter overall lengths allow them to better fit within the tight confines of machinery. Welded cylinders do not fail due to tie rods being stretched under high pressure and long strokes. Welded designs are also suitable for customization. Special features can easily be added to the block; these may include special ports, custom mounts, valve manifolds, and more. The smooth outer body of the welded cylinder also enables the design of multi-stage telescopic cylinders.

Which Material is Best For Hydraulic Cylinder?

The most commonly used material in hydraulic cylinder construction is steel. This material is generally carbon steel. It can withstand hydraulic oil pressure and is available in many different grades. The higher the hydraulic oil pressure, the thicker and stronger the cylinder wall should be. Steel hydraulic cylinders have a long service life and are more durable in acidic environments.
Cylinder barrels are usually made of honed, cold-drawn seamless or rolled tubes. The surface finish of the cylinder barrel is typically 4 to 16 micro inches. Some cylinders may have non-standard threads or welds. In any case, standardization allows for greater versatility and lower costs. The same goes for connecting rod bearings and piston bearings. Standard threads allow for greater accuracy, while under dimensioning may require derating or special tooling. Also, non-standard threads and sizes can be difficult to mate with other cylinder fittings.
